- HP ProCurve 2520-8G-PoE (J9298A#ABA) is built to handle home labs and small offices adding a few powered devices to the network without drama. It suits small offices, retail locations and branch sites that need to power a modest number of APs, cameras or VoIP phones, plus home labs where PoE simplifies cabling without justifying an enterprise-class switch. It brings 12 total network ports, laid out as 8xGigabit EthernetPoE,RJ-45 and 2xGigabit EthernetRJ-45 and 2xGigabit EthernetSFP (mini-GBIC), topping out at Gigabit (1GbE) per port. Beyond the base ports, there's SFP (mini-GBIC) expansion for uplinks. Onboard flash storage of 32 (MB) keeps firmware and config backups local to the switch. Built-in PoE power delivery runs access points, IP cameras and VoIP phones straight off the switch, cutting down on wall adapters. Layer 2 switching keeps things fast and simple: MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation. For installation, it's rack-mount, in a 1U footprint, compatible with standard 19-inch racks, runs on ac input power, and moves air standard front-to-back airflow for straightforward rack cooling. Also, built-in console access makes setup and firmware recovery easier; twisted pair,optical fiber media over SFP (mini-GBIC) covers both copper and fiber runs.
