Data centers and server rooms running virtualization hosts, NAS/SAN backbones, render farms or AI/ML training nodes are the natural fit, since all of them move heavy traffic between servers. It also works well aggregating traffic from smaller access-layer switches. Wiring is handled by 52 total network ports, laid out as 48xGigabit EthernetRJ-45 and 4xGigabit EthernetSFP (mini-GBIC), topping out at Gigabit (1GbE) per port. On top of that, it has SFP (mini-GBIC) expansion for uplinks. Onboard flash storage of 8 (MB) keeps firmware and config backups local to the switch. As a Layer 2 switch, it focuses on fast MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation rather than routing.
