  • HP OfficeConnect 1420-24G (JG708B#ACE) makes sense if you're shopping for home offices and small businesses that just need reliable plug-and-play connectivity. Home offices, small businesses and workgroups that just want more reliable ports - without VLANs or a CLI to learn - are the target here. Plug it in and go. It brings 24 total network ports, laid out as 24xGigabit EthernetRJ-45, topping out at Gigabit (1GbE) per port. It also adds a fixed-port design that keeps configuration simple. A built-in 1 (MB) of flash storage holds firmware images and config backups on the switch itself. Layer 2 switching keeps things fast and simple: MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation. Physically, it's desktop-friendly, in a 1U footprint, rack-friendly, drawing ac input power and exhausting air standard front-to-back airflow, so it fits cleanly next to existing gear. Also, twisted pair media keeps it compatible with existing cabling.
