  • HP OfficeConnect 1850-48G-4XGT (JL171AR) is the switch IT teams supporting colocation and hosting environments packing dense server racks often turn to when they need something that just works. This model fits data center and server-room deployments: virtualization hosts, NAS and SAN backbones, render farms and AI/ML training nodes that move large volumes of data between servers. It also works well as an aggregation switch feeding traffic up from access-layer switches. Wiring is handled by 52 total network ports, laid out as 48xGigabit EthernetRJ-45 and 4x10 Gigabit EthernetRJ-45, topping out at 10GbE per port. On top of that, it has a fixed-port design that keeps configuration simple. With 128 (MB) of onboard flash, firmware and configuration backups don't depend on a remote server. As a Layer 2 switch, it focuses on fast MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation rather than routing. On the compatibility side, it's rack-mount, in a 1U footprint, a 19-inch rack fit, takes ac input power, and uses standard front-to-back airflow to match common data-center airflow layouts.
