This switch is best suited to storage administrators building or scaling a SAN: connecting servers, HBAs and disk arrays over Fibre Channel where dropped frames aren't an option. It's not aimed at general office networking, so pair it with your existing Ethernet LAN rather than replacing it. On the port side, you get 24 total network ports, laid out as 24xSFP+,Active Ports16 Gigabit Ethernet, topping out at 16Gb Fibre Channel per port. It rounds this out with SFP+ expansion for uplinks. Settings and firmware are stored in onboard non-volatile memory, so they survive reboots and power cycles. As a Fibre Channel switch it handles SAN traffic at 16Gb Fibre Channel with low latency.
