This switch is best suited to storage administrators building or scaling a SAN: connecting servers, HBAs and disk arrays over Fibre Channel where dropped frames aren't an option. It's not aimed at general office networking, so pair it with your existing Ethernet LAN rather than replacing it. On the port side, you get 24 total network ports, laid out as 24xSFP+,Active Ports16 Gigabit Ethernet, topping out at 16Gb Fibre Channel per port. Beyond the base ports, there's SFP+ expansion for uplinks. Firmware and configuration live in onboard non-volatile memory, surviving reboots and power cycles. Being a Fibre Channel switch, it moves SAN traffic at 16Gb Fibre Channel with the low latency storage fabrics need.
