This model fits data center and server-room deployments: virtualization hosts, NAS and SAN backbones, render farms and AI/ML training nodes that move large volumes of data between servers. It also works well as an aggregation switch feeding traffic up from access-layer switches. Wiring is handled by 26 total network ports, laid out as 24xGigabit EthernetRJ-45 and 2xGigabit EthernetSFP (mini-GBIC), topping out at Gigabit (1GbE) per port. Layer 2 switching keeps things fast and simple: MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation. It also adds SFP (mini-GBIC) expansion for uplinks. With 8 (MB) of onboard flash, firmware and configuration backups don't depend on a remote server. It slots into a standard 19-inch rack in a 1U footprint, without any special hardware, runs on ac input power, and follows standard front-to-back airflow for predictable cooling. Also, twisted pair media over SFP (mini-GBIC) covers both copper and fiber runs.
