  • HP OfficeConnect 1420-24G-PoE+ (124W) (JH019A#ACC) shows up a lot in shortlists for campus networks and multi-floor offices with dense wireless AP and VoIP deployments, and for good reason. Campus IT teams, schools and offices deploying wireless APs and IP cameras at scale get the most from this one, since power and data ride the same cable. It has enough headroom for some virtualization or NAS traffic on the same switch too. Wiring is handled by 24 total network ports, laid out as 24xGigabit EthernetPoE+,RJ-45, topping out at Gigabit (1GbE) per port. PoE+ support means powered endpoints - APs, cameras, phones - plug straight into the switch without extra adapters. Layer 2 switching keeps things fast and simple: MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation. On top of that, it has a fixed-port design that keeps configuration simple. A built-in 1 (MB) of flash storage holds firmware images and config backups on the switch itself. For installation, it's desktop-friendly, in a 1U footprint, compatible with standard 19-inch racks, runs on ac input power, and moves air standard front-to-back airflow for straightforward rack cooling.
