- HP Altoline 6960 32QSFP28 (JL280-61001) is the switch IT teams supporting data centers, virtualization hosts and server rooms that need high east-west throughput often turn to when they need something that just works. Data centers and server rooms running virtualization hosts, NAS/SAN backbones, render farms or AI/ML training nodes are the natural fit, since all of them move heavy traffic between servers. It also works well aggregating traffic from smaller access-layer switches. It brings 32 total network ports, laid out as 32x100 Gigabit EthernetQSFP28, topping out at 100GbE per port. On top of that, it has QSFP28 expansion for uplinks. Onboard flash storage of 8 (GB) keeps firmware and config backups local to the switch. Because it supports Layer 3 routing, inter-VLAN traffic and routing tables can live on the switch instead of a separate router. On the compatibility side, it's rack-mount, in a 1U footprint, a 19-inch rack fit, takes ac input power, and uses rear-to-front airflow to match common data-center airflow layouts.
