  • HP ProCurve 2708 (J4898A) shows up a lot in shortlists for home offices and small businesses that just need reliable plug-and-play connectivity, and for good reason. Home offices, small businesses and workgroups that just want more reliable ports - without VLANs or a CLI to learn - are the target here. Plug it in and go. It brings 8 total network ports, laid out as 8xGigabit EthernetRJ-45, topping out at Gigabit (1GbE) per port. Beyond the base ports, there's a fixed-port design that keeps configuration simple. Configuration persists in onboard memory through reboots and power cycles, no separate storage needed. Layer 2 switching keeps things fast and simple: MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation. For installation, it's rack-mount, in a 1U footprint, compatible with standard 19-inch racks, runs on ac input power, and moves air standard front-to-back airflow for straightforward rack cooling. Also, twisted pair media keeps it compatible with existing cabling. GotoDirect stocks the HP ProCurve 2708 as genuine, warranty-covered hardware, with fast delivery across the US.
