  • HP OfficeConnect 1810-8 v2 (J9800AS) shows up a lot in shortlists for small networks where simple, unmanaged switching is all that's required, and for good reason. It's well suited to growing offices and branch sites that need managed features - VLANs, QoS, basic monitoring - without the cost or complexity of a full data-center switch. Wiring is handled by 8 total network ports, laid out as 7xFast EthernetRJ-45 and 1xGigabit EthernetRJ-45, topping out at Gigabit (1GbE) per port. As a Layer 2 switch, it focuses on fast MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation rather than routing. Beyond the base ports, there's a fixed-port design that keeps configuration simple. A built-in 8 (MB) of flash storage holds firmware images and config backups on the switch itself. On the compatibility side, it's desktop-friendly, in a 1U footprint, a 19-inch rack fit, takes ac input power, and uses standard front-to-back airflow to match common data-center airflow layouts.
