  • HP OfficeConnect 1850-48G-4XGT (JL171A#ACC) is a solid pick for IT teams building out server, NAS and storage backbones that don't want to overthink the network layer. This model fits data center and server-room deployments: virtualization hosts, NAS and SAN backbones, render farms and AI/ML training nodes that move large volumes of data between servers. It also works well as an aggregation switch feeding traffic up from access-layer switches. On the port side, you get 52 total network ports, laid out as 48xGigabit EthernetRJ-45 and 4x10 Gigabit EthernetRJ-45, topping out at 10GbE per port. Layer 2 operation keeps the design lean - MAC-table forwarding and VLANs, without routing overhead. It rounds this out with a fixed-port design that keeps configuration simple. With 128 (MB) of onboard flash, firmware and configuration backups don't depend on a remote server. It slots into a standard 19-inch rack in a 1U footprint, without any special hardware, runs on ac input power, and follows standard front-to-back airflow for predictable cooling.
