  • HP OfficeConnect 1420-8G (JH329A#AC3) is built to handle anyone who wants a no-configuration switch that just extends the network without drama. Home offices, small businesses and workgroups that just want more reliable ports - without VLANs or a CLI to learn - are the target here. Plug it in and go. It brings 8 total network ports, laid out as 8xGigabit EthernetRJ-45, topping out at Gigabit (1GbE) per port. As a Layer 2 switch, it focuses on fast MAC-address forwarding and VLAN segmentation rather than routing. Beyond the base ports, there's a fixed-port design that keeps configuration simple. Firmware and configuration live in onboard non-volatile memory, surviving reboots and power cycles. For installation, it's desktop-friendly, compatible with standard 19-inch racks, runs on ac input power, and moves air standard front-to-back airflow for straightforward rack cooling.
