  • HP Aruba CX 6100 12G Class4 PoE 2G/2SFP+ 139W (JL679A#ABA) shows up a lot in shortlists for home labs and small offices adding a few powered devices to the network, and for good reason. It suits small offices, retail locations and branch sites that need to power a modest number of APs, cameras or VoIP phones, plus home labs where PoE simplifies cabling without justifying an enterprise-class switch. Wiring is handled by 16 total network ports, laid out as 12xGigabit EthernetRJ-45,Class4 PoE and 2x10 Gigabit EthernetSFP+,Uplink and 2xGigabit EthernetRJ-45,Uplink, topping out at 10GbE per port. It rounds this out with SFP+ expansion for uplinks. A built-in 16 (GB) of flash storage holds firmware images and config backups on the switch itself. PoE support means powered endpoints - APs, cameras, phones - plug straight into the switch without extra adapters. Layer 3 support means it routes between VLANs on its own rather than forwarding everything to an upstream router. On the compatibility side, it's rack-mount, in a 1U footprint, a 19-inch rack fit, takes ac input power, and uses standard front-to-back airflow to match common data-center airflow layouts. Also, built-in console access plus a USB port makes setup and firmware recovery easier; twisted pair,optical fiber media over SFP+ covers both copper and fiber runs.
